Swim Across America - Atlanta Open Water Swim
Swim Across America (SAA) has been a beneficiary of the generosity shown by the Atlanta Parrothead Club and the Parrot Heads that embarked on Parrothead Cruise 2026, Goptta Go Where Itsw Warm. The club first became involved with SAA after the Atlanta Parrot Head 30th Anniversary and the first annual Boats, Peaches, Bars and Ballads party at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands in 2019. The APHC has been a major sponsor every year since. On September 19, 2026 they will be at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park, for their annual Atlanta Open Water Swim.
This is a really great, emotional event. Please consider volunteering to help with the swimmers and SAA. Guarantee you will have a good time and you can even meet some Olympic swimming champions!!!
There are three ways to support them, you can volunteer, especially if you have a boat, donate to the cause, or if you are feeling really energetic, you can register to swim!
There are two Volunteer options:
1) Water Volunteers -- Water volunteers consist of kayakers, stand-up paddleboarders and power boaters that provide crucial logistical and safety support to the event officials and for the swimmers. They will monitor the swim lane, keep an active eye on all the swimmers and communicate any swimmer issues to the event officials.
2) Land Volunteers -- For us landlubbers there are multiple areas that where they can use our assistance...registration/check in, body marking/timing chip assignment, event setup/event breakdown, swimmer check out/towel distribution, timer support, etc. They can really use our help with event set up and breakdown.
To register, click on the link below. Click on Register button, select Volunteer (or In Person Swimmer if you are so inclined), then select Join A Team. About Swim Across America
Welcome to the Swim Across America - Atlanta Open Water Swim! Established in 2013, SAA - Atlanta has donated over $3.9 million to our beneficiary: Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Cancer remains the leading cause of death by illness for children. Despite this, childhood cancer research is consistently underfunded by our federal government. This is why your support and this event are so important.
Each year we host over 1,000 swimmers and volunteers, spectators and supporters, as well as Olympians near and far at our charity swim. Whether you want to volunteer, are a veteran swimmer or a first-time open-water swimmer, or want to come out and support everyone, we welcome you to join us for our 14th annual swim on September 19th at Lake Lanier Olympic Park!
SAA—Atlanta funds benefit the Aflac Cancer & Blood Disorders Center of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta . The leukemia research project, led by Dr. Douglas Graham and his clinical research team, supports children as well as adults by hosting Phase 1 leukemia clinical trials at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University.
