Because of the Covid-19 outbreak Open Hand has cancelled all in house volunteer activities.  We are in touch with them and will reschedule this popular community service event at a later date.

If you still wish to help them out, they are looking for volunteers to deliver meals three days a week.  These opportunities are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays according to their last email. You can go to their website for further details.

Please join us at Open Hand Atlanta on Saturday May 2 as we prepare and package meals for people with critical illnesses, the disabled, and the homebound elderly. We did this a group last year ago and it was a most excellent day!!

There are currently 14 slots available to the club and hopefully they will fill up fast. Please register at as soon as possible at  (Please register on the APHC website as well so we can send you any additional information that may come up about the event.) Lets have a large turn out and demonstrate how Parrot Heads are committed to giving back to our community.

Open Hand is one of the largest community-based providers of home-delivered meals and nutrition services in the United States.  Open Hand prepares, packs and delivers over 6,000 healthy meals each day throughout metro-Atlanta for those who might otherwise go without.

Open Hand helps people prevent or better manage chronic disease through Comprehensive Nutrition Care, which combines home-delivered meals and nutrition education as a means to reinforce the connection between informed food choices and improved quality of life.

At Open Hand, people from all walks of life come together to touch the lives of thousands of others who are not as fortunate. And our volunteers have a lot of fun in the process—due in part to our wonderful food service and distribution staff that, along with other remarkable volunteers, make them feel as though they are always among friends.

Please read carefully over the dress code requirements listed at the bottom.
